City Traffic to Be Rerouted for Prime Minister's Visit; Motorists Advised to Use Alternate Routes

Pune, September 26, 2024 – In light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city, there will be significant changes to the transport system on Thursday (September 26) afternoon. The Pune Traffic Police has announced a series of diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow and heightened security during the event. Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), has urged motorists to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

The traffic changes will affect major areas between Freedom Hero Savarkar Statue Chowk at Sarasbagh and Pooram Chowk on Tilak Road. According to the official advisory, all vehicular access along this route will be restricted. Drivers are requested to take a right turn from Sinhagad Road at Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Chowk and proceed via Mitramandal Chowk and Volga Chowk to reach their destinations.

Further, traffic heading to Satara Road from Bhatsaktar Keshavrao Jedhe Chowk will also face restrictions. Motorists must detour at Jedhe Chowk and use Shankarsheth Road, proceeding to Seven Loves Chowk and continuing via Gultekdi, Vakhar Mahamandal Chowk, and Market Yard.

Traffic moving from Seven Loves Chowk on Shankarsheth Road towards Jedhe Chowk will be halted as well. Alternate routes through Gultekdi and Market Yard are recommended for vehicles in this area.

The city authorities have also designated 12 parking locations to accommodate vehicles arriving for the Prime Minister’s event. Some of the parking spots include Bhide Pool riverbed, Nilayam Cinema premises, Mitramandal Chowk, Patil Plaza, and several schools and public grounds across the city. These measures are being implemented to ensure minimal disruption and smooth movement during the event.

Motorists are advised to follow traffic updates and be mindful of the diversions to avoid congestion in key areas of Pune.
