Commuters Can Now Rent E-Bikes at Pune Metro Stations for Seamless Travel at Rs 1.5 per Minute

Pune: In a bid to enhance commuter convenience and improve first and last-mile connectivity, Pune Metro has announced the launch of a rental e-bike service in collaboration with TS Switch E-Ride Pvt Ltd. The service will be available at ten select metro stations and will offer eco-friendly, cost-effective travel options to metro passengers.
E-Bike Service for Metro Commuters The rental e-bike service will be rolled out at PCMC, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Nashik Phata, Dapodi, Shivajinagar, Mandai, Swargate, Ruby Hall Clinic, Anand Nagar, and Vanaz metro stations. Initially, 50 e-bikes will be deployed for public use. The service aims to provide commuters with a sustainable and convenient transport alternative, especially for covering short distances from metro stations to their destinations.
Affordable and Convenient Pricing The fare structure is set at an affordable rate of Rs 1.5 per minute or Rs 55 per hour. This initiative is expected to encourage more people to use metro services by ensuring seamless connectivity to workplaces, residential areas, educational institutions, and commercial hubs.
High-Tech Features for Enhanced Safety and Accessibility Each e-bike will have a maximum speed of 25 km per hour and can accommodate two passengers. The bikes will be equipped with batteries compatible with both plug-in and swapping models, offering a range of up to 80 km per charge. Additional features such as live tracking, geo-fencing, and secure docking stations will enhance the safety and reliability of the service.
How to Avail the Service To use the rental e-bike service, commuters must download the dedicated mobile application from the Google Play Store, complete KYC verification, and register. The app will offer seamless booking, live tracking, customer support, and payment options. In the future, this service will be integrated with the Pune Metro’s digital platform for easier access.
Future Expansion Plans Dedicated charging stations for battery plug-in and swapping will be installed at select metro stations to support the growing demand for e-bike services. Depending on user response, the service may be expanded to additional metro stations and key locations across the city.
Pune Metro’s initiative aligns with sustainable urban mobility solutions, reducing dependency on private vehicles and promoting green transportation. This step is expected to significantly contribute to decongesting city roads and reducing carbon footprints.
