CM Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates First Bus Service in Aheri-Gardewada After 77 Years
Historic bus route launched in Gadchiroli, signaling reduced Naxalite influence and a step toward development
Gadchiroli, Maharashtra: Marking a historic milestone, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the first-ever bus service on the Aheri-Gardewada route in the Gadchiroli district, an area long plagued by Naxalite activities. The service, launched by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), represents a significant step forward in integrating the district with the rest of the state and fostering development.
For the first time in 77 years since India’s independence, public transport has reached this remote and once highly volatile region. This development symbolizes the administration’s strengthened presence and the waning influence of Naxalite groups.
A New Dawn for Gadchiroli
During his visit to Gadchiroli, CM Fadnavis highlighted the significance of the bus service and its impact on the region.
“In areas where Maoists once held sway, we have now established our influence. The people have rejected Maoists and are embracing development,” said Fadnavis.
He further emphasized the transformation of the district, referring to it as the “gateway to Maharashtra” rather than its last district.
Surrender of Naxalite Leaders
Adding to the historic day, several prominent Naxalite leaders surrendered to the authorities in the presence of the Chief Minister. This act was hailed as a reflection of the region’s growing rejection of extremist ideologies and support for governance.
Fadnavis applauded the 12 villages that passed resolutions to refuse support to Maoists, including grain and identification cards issued by the groups.
Development Milestones in Gadchiroli
The Chief Minister also inaugurated several development projects, including:
- The Konsari Project Phase 1:
- Created 10,000 jobs, with an additional 5,000 positions expected upon the project’s completion in 10 months.
- Fadnavis expressed his vision of transforming Gadchiroli into the “Steel City of India.”
- New Outpost at Pengondya:
- A critical step in connecting Gadchiroli with neighboring Chhattisgarh, enhancing security and economic collaboration.
The Aheri-Gardewada bus service is more than just a transportation facility; it is a symbol of hope, connectivity, and development for the people of Gadchiroli. With the reduced influence of Maoists and the government’s proactive approach, the district is on the cusp of significant socio-economic change.
The local population welcomed the bus service with great enthusiasm, seeing it as a tangible sign of progress. Residents expressed hope that improved connectivity would lead to better access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
