The award ceremony took place at the illustrious Bayan Palace in Kuwait, where Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah presented the accolade to PM Modi. The Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, an esteemed order of knighthood, is traditionally bestowed upon heads of state and prominent members of royal families as a gesture of enduring friendship and diplomatic goodwill. Past recipients include global leaders such as Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, and George Bush.

A Historic Visit

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kuwait is the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years, underlining its historical and diplomatic significance. PM Modi, in a heartfelt message on social media platform X, dedicated this award to the 1.3 billion Indians and the enduring India-Kuwait friendship. The Indian diaspora in Kuwait, numbering over 1 million, welcomed Prime Minister Modi with unparalleled enthusiasm. The ‘Hala Modi’ event, held at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex, was a highlight of the visit. The Prime Minister addressed the jubilant crowd, emphasizing India’s commitment to the welfare of overseas Indians and acknowledging their vital contributions to the Kuwaiti economy.

On Saturday, PM Modi also visited the Gulf Speak Employees Camp, interacting with Indian workers and expressing gratitude for their hard work and resilience.

Today, Kuwait is a key partner in India’s energy security and an important destination for Indian professionals.
