Pune: In a heartbreaking turn of events during the festive season of Navratri, tragedy struck the city of Chakan in Pune when Ashok Mali, fondly known as the Garba King, collapsed while playing Garba and passed away on the spot. The incident occurred late in the evening as Ashok Mali was performing Dandiya with his son during a Garba event.
The Navratri celebration quickly turned somber as Ashok Mali suddenly felt dizzy while playing to the popular Garba song “Ghungat Me Chand Hoga Akho Me Sajni…” Mali collapsed in front of the shocked crowd, including his son, Bhavesh. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him brought dead.
